Little Boy’s birthday card

It has been a quiet week on the card making front, I’m sorry. You’ll see why soon 🙂

This is a birthday card I made for an old friend’s son’s 4th birthday, whose party we went to today.

I honestly couldn’t put a ribbon on a little boy’s birthday card … it didn’t go with images of Batman or Spiderman!! I’ve used the colours Ballet Blue, Real Red and Basic Black for a more masculine card. The stamps I have used are from Birthday Best, Canvas background and the Level 1 Hostess stamp set, Party Punch. I’ve done lots of sponging on this card and paper piercing too! I hope you like it (and I hope the birthday boy liked it!).

Thanks for looking.

Reminder … stamping night this Friday

dsc03701.jpg

Just a reminder … my FREE card & scrap night is on Friday 28 March 2008 from 8.00pm, for any who are interested in coming along.

Remember … this is an “up to you” night. It is a night to work on your own creations. You need to bring along your own cardstock, adhesives, embellishments etc and any of your latest purchases you haven’t yet used.

You are welcome to also use any of my stamp sets, ink pads or punches, if you like. I will supply a seat, some lollies (perhaps some chocolate Easter eggs if you can stomach the sight of them …) and coffee/tea/cold drinks.

Book some time in your diary for YOU now and come along. Bookings essential (simply so I can organise table space for everyone).

If you are short on ideas, then check out these two cards. I made these cards the other night for my two gorgeous Godsons in Brisbane … Corey turned 14 and Zayd turned 2 … brothers that are a day and 12 years apart! Very special men deserve very special cards 🙂

Stamp-a-Stack on the weekend

This weekend I have a stamp-a-stack (aka SAS) for my cousin. It will be a great day, particularly as her daughter and my daughter are only 2 weeks apart in age and will have a ball playing while we have fun making cards! What is a stamp-a-stack? It’s where you make a stack of 10 cards, usually of 2 different designs. This is one of the cards I have chosen for the day.

We will be making 5 of these cards which my cousin’s guests will be able to tailor using the greeting stamps from Warmest Regards (retiring at the end of this month). The card, except for a few minor details, is a complete case from Splitcoaststampers. You can check out the original card here. Thanks so much Michele Boyer (Paper Cuts) for a great card! The original card had the advantage of using the Stampin’ Up! In Colour, Purely Pomegranate, which will be available in Australia from 1 April 2008! I can’t wait … that’s next Tuesday!!
This is the other card we will make. I apologise for the poor quality … of card (!) … my original card took a little battering at the last card class I ran and is a little worse for wear with extra ink spots on it. Such is life! I’ll post a nicer card up next week 🙂 This is an excellent card for a stamp-a-stack! With the Birthday Best (in the old and new catalogue for only $25.95!), guests can change from flowers to balloons to cupcakes and have a variety of cards to take home, should they choose to dip into their “creative well”. It’s one of the best value stamp sets in the catalogue and one of my favourites! For the greeting on this card I’ve used the stamp set, God’s Blessings, but if you don’t have that stamp set then the Birthday Best greeting is just fine too 🙂 I’ve also used Simply Said flowers at the top of the card, but they aren’t coming up well in the photo. My apologies.

If you like the idea of organising a few friends around for a SAS, then drop me a line and we can book a date today (in Sydney, NSW, please). The cost for a SAS is $20.00 plus $3.00 for envelopes (envelopes are optional).
Have a great day!

FREE card & scrap night – Friday 28 March 2008

Have you seen, or do you own, either of these two cards?

Bloomin with Happiness

Fun Filled

If you have, it means you have either been one of my hostesses or you have been to a workshop party where I have demonstrated, as these have been my demonstration cards which I give to my hostesses. So! I must now ask you … have you made anything with your Stampin’ Up! purchases?  Well, if the answer is no to this question, then it is time you dedicated some time to create … it is time to make time for YOU!

I am having a FREE card & scrap night on Friday 28 March 2008 from 8.00pm (the Friday night after Easter) for any of my hostesses, customers or friends (or your friends) who are interested in coming along. It will be a night to work on your own creations.  You simply need to bring along your own cardstock, adhesives, embellishments etc and any of your latest purchases you haven’t yet used. You are welcome to also use any of my stamp sets, ink pads or punches, if you like. I will supply a seat, some lollies (to help with creative inspiration!) and coffee/tea/cold drinks. Book some time in your diary for YOU now and come along. Bookings essential (simply so I can organise table space for everyone).

I’m planning on this night becoming a monthly or bi-monthly stamp & scrap night, so if you can’t make it this month, subscribe to my blog today and you’ll get an update in your Inbox when I update my blog for next month (the last Friday of the month is a possibility).

Slot a place in your diary for YOU now … you deserve it.

Hope to see you there!

The last day of Sale-A-Bration … a sad day :(

Birthday Whimsey

Today is the final day …. to place (and pay) for your order to qualify for a free Sale-a-bration stamp set. If you really really like any of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets then order now!! Or they will be gone forever 😦

All you need to do is email me with your order before 9.00pm Friday night and you’ll still be in time. For every $100 you spend you get to choose one of the four limited edition stamps sets. The above card was made with Birthday Whimsy.

Don’t forget too … you can make the most of the retirement list being announced early and grab some retiring sets before they go and at the same time earn yourself a free Sale-a-Bration set! It’s a win/win time for stampers!!

Stamp-A-Stack – Birthday cards

Who wants to be organised for some birthday cards this year? Well, then, it’s Stamp-A-Stack time!

What is a Stamp-A-Stack, you ask? Well, simply, we sit down and make a stack of 10 cards, 5 of 2 different designs.

How much will that cost? Well, how much do you pay for a handmade card at a card shop? $8-$10 or thereabouts? each card?? Well, for your very OWN handmade creations that are clearly more special to your friends and family than someone else’s handmade creations … it will cost only $20 for 10 cards including all materials. An optional $3.00 extra is payable if you would like lovely envelopes to go with your cards that you can stamp to coordinate with the cards you have made.

Interested? Well, book Monday 25 February 2008 into your calendar … 7.30pm at my place, 7 Parklea Drive, Parklea.

This is one of the cards we will be making …

Bud Basics Birthday

The design of this card is completely inspired by Marelle Taylor, one very talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. Thanks, Marelle!

And this is the other card … something completely different!

Birthday Best

Bookings for my classes are essential.

Please contact me no later than Saturday 23rd February 2008 to ensure your place. Looking forward to seeing you at my place!

If you cannot make it, then why not organise a minimum of 4 people together (including yourself) and book me to visit your home for a personalised card making class? Contact me today to arrange a date!

Would you like to come but your diary is already booked that night? Well, subscribe to my blog to have your finger on the pulse and know when the next class you might like to attend is on. Thanks for looking!

PS. this is a card I considered for the SAS, but I think it would be a late night cutting out the cupcake five times … what do you think?

A different kind of “Friday night in”

Last night I did my first ever Cyberstamp with The INKlings group that I am a part of. There were 10 of us online last night, that was great! Our talented uplines set us 4 challenges to complete so the pressure was on the the creative juices forced to flow!

These were my efforts:

FIRST CHALLENGE

To complete a gift tag of any kind in 10 minutes … phew!

10 min Gift Tag

Apologies for the poor lighting for the photo. How simple was this card? Just Whisper White and Lovely Lilac cardstock, Birthday Best stamp set and Basic Black ink with a colour in with the Lovely Lilac marker pen was almost all that was needed. To finish the card off I used my trusty 2-way glue pen with Dazzling Diamonds glitter … bling!

SECOND CHALLENGE

This was a sketch challenge. Of course, my first! What a great idea though … we all followed the sketch and were to use patterned paper on the card and choose our colour scheme from the patterned paper. I used Loves Me DSP from the Summer Mini Catalogue … I’ve been meaning to do a baby card for so long!

Baby Boy!

THIRD CHALLENGE

Now this was really a challenge … a colour challenge. We had to create a card from the the colours: Vintage Violet, Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip and Cool Carribean. I didn’t have any Cool Carribean and substituted it with Bashful Blue. Would you have picked this colour scheme?

FOURTH CHALLENGE

Our last challenge was reverse masking … and now I have finished it!
