A big three years old!

As promised, this is the birthday card I’ve made for my Godson … who is a big 3 years old next week! Wow! That time has flown … particularly so, because my older son turns 3 on Monday too (the boys are 2 days apart)! I have to make Joshua’s card yet … I don’t have to put his card in the post for Brisbane, so there’s still time!!

For this birthday card I’ve used the stamp sets Big Bold Birthday and Best Friends Numbers.  Thankfully, Big Bold Birthday is not retiring! Yeah! Though, I’m very sad to say that Best Friends Numbers is.  I use it all the time on birthday cards!! I will miss it.  And, of the colours I’ve used in this card, Soft Sky (including the coordinating Soft Sky grosgrain ribbon) will be retiring. It’s such a lovely colour … although I’m excited about seeing the new colours! The other colours I’ve used with Soft Sky are Night of Navy and Tempting Turquoise.

Thanks for looking 🙂

Last month of Summer Mini …

It’s easy to forget in the flurry of the retirement list that our Summer Mini is still current … and will finish at the end of this month.  This card is made using my favourite stamp set from the Summer Mini … In the Stars.  And my two Godsons have birthdays next week, one is 15 the other 3 … birthdays back to back!  This is the birthday card I’ve made for my 15 year old Godson …

I’ve used the colours Copper Metallic, Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie … the black stars are embossed and is the “A wish for you” star (although the copper powder is not Stampin’ Up!) … the ribbon is only retiring product on this card … from Jersey Ribbon Originals (page 147).

Check back tomorrow to see my other Godson’s birthday card!!

Thanks for looking 🙂

Classic Stars 5th birthday boy card

This is the birthday card I made for the other party my daughter went to on the weekend. Connor also turned 5!

I love the Classic Stars jumbo wheel and this is the first card I’ve made where I’ve embossed it. I think I’ll emboss it more often! I think the gold looks fab!

I wanted to use the Outlaw DSP for Connor’s card, and so I based my colours around the Outlaw paper, picking a pattern from Outlaw that worked with the Classic Stars (and wasn’t too overwhelming!). So the colours are Very Vanilla, Gold (Versamark with Gold Embossing Powder), Chocolate Chip, Really Rust and Sage Shadow.

A boy’s card is always hard to make and I find you can’t really put pretty ribbon on a boy’s card, don’t you think? Anyway, the new 1″ wide double stitched grosgrain (available in the Summer Mini) lends itself to a boy’s card and I dared to try it! I then added the Antique Brass Hodgepodge to frame ‘birthday boy’. Again, I think the Antique Brass Hodgepodge lends itself to a masculine card. The ‘birthday boy’ words came from the stamp set Everyday Flexible Phrases.

I cut the number 5 out, from Best Friends Numbers, after I stamped it onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I used dimensionals to stick it to the Sage Shadow cardstock I had punched out with my Round Tab punch, and layered with Chocolate Chip cardstock. It’s been a while since I’ve used my Crop-a-dile, but the New Year is providing good fun already and I used it here! The eyelets are from the Metallic Eyelets and are matching Antique Brass. Don’t you love the way Stampin’ Up! products coordinate!! It makes card making so much easier when everything coordinates.

I finally hung the ‘5’ from ‘birthday boy’ using Stampin’ Up!’s linen thread.
