Apothecary Art Christmas Card

This is a Christmas card I made for a Christmas in July team swap (yes! I know! We’re already thinking about Christmas!).  My card was inspired by this simply lovely card here.

This is a close up:

I wasn’t sure if I preferred a Very Vanilla background or a Cherry Cobbler background, so I made both to see which I liked best.  For those ladies who received my swap, they will know I ended up with a Very Vanilla background 🙂

Now, I didn’t emboss my frame with Gold Embossing powder – I was surprised that I didn’t have Gold Embossing powder in my craft stash!!  Of course, I will rectify that problem very quickly, lol!   So, my fix for the lacking of Gold Embossing powder was to stamp the image in Versamark ink, then into Soft Suede and then emboss the image with clear embossing powder.  It worked a treat!

The colours I’ve used are – Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold, Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede.  And the Sentiment is from Four the Holidays (such a useful stamp set!).  With my Big Shot, I’ve used the Labels Collection Framelits, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder and Petals a Plenty Embossing folder.  My flower is, of course, my favourite new punch, the Blossom punch.  And the sparkle comes from the Champagne Shimmer Paint – which i adore!

A Special Christmas Card

This is a special Christmas card that I made for my mother-in-law last year (seems strange to already being saying last year!).

For this card I went monochromatic – Night of Navy and Shimmery White.  Stampin’ Up!’s Shimmery White cardstock is beautifully subtle and a pleasant weight.  The big background I simply left as the paper is, but the smaller background I rolled through my Big Shot with the Petals-a-plenty embossing folder.

I stamped night of Navy on Whisper White cardstock and then punched out the ornaments with SU’s ornament punch – I love that punch!  I tied up the ornaments with a silver cord (retired) bow and I added one rhinestone brad to the centre of the lower ornament and three rhinestone brads to the top left hand corner of the card.

The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy on Shimmery White paper from Snow Swirled and then layered by punching the Wide Oval punch and Curvy Label punch.

A really simple card to make – it took no more than 20 minutes – and (I think) elegant too!

Cute Curly Christmas Cards

Here are a few more quick Christmas cards.

I really love the Curly Cute “Season’s Greetting” stamp, so I’ve made quite a few cards with it this year.  For the card above, I punched out some Cocoa Specialty DSP (not available anymore) using the Ornament Punch.  I wrapped some gold cord (retired) around the top and then stuck it to some Whisper White paper that I had embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and my Big Shot.  The sentiment was stamped in Real Red.

This card is slightly different.  It has three ornaments and the sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede ink.

This card is the same as the first card, except the sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede ink.

December Frenzy !!

Here is one of my favourite Christmas cards that I’ve made this year.   I just love it!  And, you know, the sentiment is from the stamp set Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  I use Teeny Tiny Sentiments ALL THE TIME!  And it’s on special this month – from $62.95 to ONLY $31.48.  That is an incredible price!!!  Check out what else is on special by checking out the details below or clicking on the December Frenzy picture to the right.

I’ve also used the stamp sets En Francais (background), Delightful Decorations and Lovely as a Tree.  The En Francais was stamped in Crumb Cake, the ornaments are in Cherry Cobbler and the trees in Old Olive.  Wow.  This is a super colour combo for Christmas, don’t you think?

Now, you can’t see too well in my photos, but I’ve also sponged Champagne Shimmer paint all over the card and it looks GORGEOUS!! lol!

Now, the December Frenzy special runs all December, so now is the time to order up any last minute Christmas gifts.  And at this amazing prices, how could you not?!!

Choo Choo … the Spring Mini is here!

Well, today is the first day of Stampin’ Up!’s Spring Mini Catalogue.  You can view it online here.  I think the Mini is inspirational this year, with lovely colour combos, stamp sets with a reasonable price tag and exciting accessories!

One of the things I love about being a Stampin’ Up! demo is getting together and sharing ideas and tips with the team I’m lucky enough to be a part of – the Creative Stampers.  During school holidays we have a ‘Card in a box’ day, and this school hols, the cards were beautiful!  This was my contribution to the day (sorry I took so long to post it, Christie! Happy making!) …

This card uses the new stamp set, Choo Choo, a must for anyone with little boys!  But, as you can see, it is also a great Christmas card.  To add a Christmas element, I’ve used the stamp sets, Spotlight on Christmas, Best Yet, and Short and Sweet.  The colour combo is Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Real Red and Baja Breeze – inspired by the new DSP in the Spring Mini, Ski Slope.  Of course, a little touch of sparkle makes a great Christmas card, and to do this, I used Tombow glue and SU White Chunky Sprinkles.

If you would like to place an order from the Spring Mini from anywhere in Australia then email me today.

Only a week to go … sneak peek time!

Very exciting!!  The new Spring Mini catalogue starts on 1 August 2009, and I think it is outstanding!  Of course, I’m biased, but I think the colour combinations are going to delight your day, the price of the stamp sets will surprise you and the ideas will inspire you.

This card is made using one of the Christmas stamp sets – Tree Trimmings.  The simple Pacific Point and Whisper White colour scheme looks effective, don’t you think?  And I love, love, love the Filigree brads!  I also found my Stamp-a-ma-jig invaluable in stamping the string in the right position – and the sentiment.  Although you can’t really notice it in this photo, I have stamped the baubles on Whisper White and then cut them out and stuck them on with dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the stamp set Best Yet (very versatile!) and perfect for Christmas cards.

One of the best things about being a demo is that I have the opportunity to purchase from the Spring Mini a month in advance of customers.  But it will be your turn soon!

Inspired Christmas wreath

Do you have blogs you like to visit all the time because they always inspire you?  Well, one of my favourite blogs is DOstamping with Dawn.  Dawn always inspires me with gorgeous cards and projects.  You should check her out here.  But today, this card was inspired by Dawn’s post here.

I have used the stamp sets Together Forever, One of a Kind and Short and Sweet in this card.  The colours are Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Kiwi Kiss and Handsome Hunter.  I have used textured cardstock which lends a real elegance to the card in real life.  And the ribbon?  Ahh … something on my wishlist for sooo long – Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla wide striped grosgrain.  It will be available for purchase in Australia on 1 August when the Spring Mini starts.  Contact me if you want some too!

I love cards with Christmas wreaths.  I had a tutorial in my newsletter this month on how to recreate this wreath with the Boho Blossoms punch, Scallop Circle punch and 1″ Circle punch.  If you would like to learn new tips, then you should join my newsletter to see what my tutorial is next month!  Click on the box in the top right hand corner.  Here is a close up of the wreath:
