Black Swallowtail Sympathy card

Black Swallowtail Sympathy card

This is the Swallowtail stamp, inked and Versamark and heat-embossed with black powder.

I love the colours Black and Crumb Cake together! And Versamark ink is so useful. Along with the embossing powder, I’ve also stamped Serene Silhouettes for a background effect in Versamark ink. There is a Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp, “with sympathy”, stamped in the corner of the card with black ink.

This took 10 minutes to create!

Rue Des Fleurs dress for 10th birthday card

One of the most amazing ideas I saw at Convention, and adored, was a very, very clever way to use the umbrella in Rue Des Fleurs as a dress!  Now, I’m so sorry, I don’t know who to credit for this amazing dress.  There could be others out there on the internet, but my inspiration came from the very clever demo who displayed her work at Convention in Canberra – and the project was amazing too!  If anyone can tell who this lady was or provide a link for my inspiration, please do!

I made this card slightly different to the one I saw at Convention (it was embossed in gold and coloured with Cherry Cobbler), but this card was for a good friend’s daughter, who is turning 10, so more pink was appropriate!  I embossed the image using clear Versamark, inking in Cherry Cobbler and then the Cherry scented Embossing Powder – so this project has a YUMMY smell 🙂  I coloured in some of the embossed image with my Pink Pirouette market.

I used the stamp sets, Rue Des Fleurs and the sentiment from Bring on the Cake.  I’ve used the colour combination Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Pear Pizzazz.

The itty bitty flower shapes punch was perfect for the flowers, which I scrunched up and sponged before popping a pearl on each flower.  A little sponging the Very Vanilla edge finished off the card!  Now that you’ve seen an alternative use for this stamp set – don’t you feel justified in wanting to buy it (if you haven’t already!).

If you really want it, because you’ve been inspired like I was inspired, you can see more than one use for this lovely stamp set, and you live in Australia, simply email me at rachel.capps@yahoo.com.au, mention this post by saying “you feel justified”, place your order with me for this stamp set at $42.94 (clear mount) or $53.95 (wood mount) and I will arrange for it to be shipped to you, where ever you want (home or work), for FREE.  This is a once-only offer which ends with the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue on 31 July 2012.

Elementary Elegance 18th birthday card

This is a card I made for a gorgeous gal in our family who turned 18 earlier this year.

I know that the key is meant to be for a 21st, but I just had received the Trinket Keys in a recent order, and I couldn’t help use it!  And then, with Sale-a-bration, I also had the stamp set Elementary Elegance, so again, the key theme had to happen!

I stamped the key from Elementary Elegance in Whisper White craft ink on the crumb cake cardstock.  I stamped the frame in the same ink and then heat embossed it with White embossing powder.  I cut out the “18” with the Big Shot and Simple Numbers Bigz Die in Red Glitter paper and also the Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die for the layered background of the “18”.  The Trinket Key is hung from the Red Satin ribbon with Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.

Blushing Bride Delicate Doilies birthday card

This is a card I created when playing with a fellow stamper.  We wanted to see how Delicate Doilies looked embossed in black – so we embossed it on Blushing Bride 2010-2012 In Color Patterns DSP Stack paper.  This is how it turned out …

I just the love Patterns DSP stacks (can’t you tell?) – they’re so versatile!

So for this card I used lots of it.  And then I used the Lace Ribbon border, Extra-Large Oval and Decorative Label punches with some Blushing Bride stitched-poly ribbon around the sentiment stamped from Bring on the Cake. And this is a close up of the sentiment:

Forever Young Thank You card

Here is another Forever Young card. I borrowed the stamp set from a friend, Christie Wallace (you can check out Christie’s amazing creations here), and had a play with it – lucky me!

This card also uses the embossing technique.  I stamped in versamark and then heated black embossing powder over the image.  The colours I’ve used are Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Gray and the Neutrals Collection of the Patterns DSP Stack.

The sentiment is stamped from the stamp set Curly Cute which fits perfectly in the Extra-Large Oval Punch and is layered with the Decorative Label punch.  There is a touch of SU Basic Black satin ribbon and, of course, a gorgeous Vintage brad to finish the card off.

My Convention swap

Well, Convention has been and gone this year.  It was my first time, and it sure lived up to my expectations!

This was the swap I made, using the stamp sets En Francais, Medallion and Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  I made a few different versions of this card, but this is the one I liked the best after they were all done.

I love this colour combo together, and I’m relieved that both Pink Pirouette and Sahara Sand will follow us into the new catalogue when it launches in September 2010. Phew!

I was trying for a shabby chic look and began by stamping En Francais in Sahara Sand.  Then I stamped my Medallion in Versamark ink and then tapped my Pink Pirouette over the already Versamark-inked Medallion.  Then I stamped the Medallion half over the En Francais image.  And then I embossed the Medallion with clear embossing powder.   This is a close up:

I used the Scallop Oval, Large Oval and Small Oval punches to stamp my Teeny Tiny Sentiment and layer it.  Then I sponged all edges with Sahara Sand ink.   The strip was punched with the Scallop Edge punch and the thin strip of paper that was left after I punched my scallop edge is the piece I used to layer over the Sahara Sand strip (and that was textured Sahara Sand).  I love using up scraps!

Convention was amazing this year, and I’m grateful for all the amazing swaps I received in return for mine – thanks for sharing, ladies!

Inspired Pocket Silhouettes

This is a card I made that was totally inspired by a gorgeous card on SCS here

I love embossing, and making this card gave me the chance to emboss again.  When I haven’t embossed for a while, I forget how much it facscinates me.  Does that ever happen to you?  Perhaps with a different technique?  Embossing again makes me want to emboss even more!!

Anyhoo, the colours I used are Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore.  Along with Pocket Silhouettes, I also used Sincere Salutations.  I’d say Sincere Salutations has to be one of the most versatile stamp sets out there!
