Grunge Rock boys’ birthdays

With two boys, one in Kindy and the other in Year 1, we’ve had a few boys’ birthday parties to go to already this year!  So, I found a layout that I really like using and I’ve just varied it a little each time.  I have used the Grunge Rock and, sometimes, Extreme Elements stamp sets .  I loved the colour combination of Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Tangerine Tango and Night of Navy.

The next card I added the birthday boy’s age “5” by using the Big Shot and Simple Numbers Bigz Die and gorgeous red glitter paper.

And the next one I added a “6” and stamped the “Happy Birthday” in a different spot:

Such an easy card to make and so many variables!

Extreme Elements birthday card

This was a late night last minute card (do you ever do that?) I made for my brother for his birthday last year.

As it was a last minute card, I wanted easy inspiration and so I was so so so grateful for the wonderful 2011-2012 Stampin’ Up! catalogue because I cased page 60!

I think my colours may be slightly different to the catalogue (or is it my bad late-night photography? hmmm) … I used the colours Crumb Cake, Concord Crush, Island Indigo and Pear Pizzazz.  And I used the sentiment from Grunge Rock together with Extreme Elements.

Sorry, the close up is a bit blurry!

Harry’s Spidey 4th birthday

This is a special card I made for my youngest son on his 4th birthday this year.

I used Real Red and the retired colour Brilliant Blue to get Spidey’s bright colours.  I found an image on the internet of Spiderman, then I printed it on Watercolour paper.  I used my marker pens to colour in Spidey – really easy to do!

The sentiment is from the stamp set Grunge Rock, stamped in Real Red.  The background is from the now retired Newsprint DSP –  I thought the Newsprint well suited Spidey as he’s always in the headlines, lol!

Lastly I added one of my favourite sparkles – Gold Glow Smooch Spritz – which I hope you can see better on this picture:

Masculine Grunge Rock Birthday

This is the birthday card I made for my brother’s birthday last year.  I just love the new stamp set in the Summer Mini – Grunge Rock – there just isn’t enough time in the day to play with it!

I based the card around the colours Basic Black, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  I used the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Square Lattice, through my Big Shot with some Very Vanilla cardstock.  I stamped that embossed cardstock randomly with the diamonds from Grunge Rock.  And then I used the new Gold Glow Smooch Spritz to finish off the background.

For the centre piece, I used the standard wheel, Music Notes stamped in Crumb Cake, and rolled in randomly across the Very Vanilla cardstock.  I stamped the guitar from Grunge Rock in Basic Black and cut it out.  I stuck it on the Music Notes using dimensionals.  For the sentiment, it was stamped in Basic Black on Crumb Cake cardstock, and I sponged the edges in Basic Black ink.

Corey’s Christmas gift card holder

This is a quick gift card holder I made up last night for my Godson’s Christmas present.  Inside there is a JB Hi-Fi voucher which is still in its own folder, so the gift card holder is slightly bigger than a standard gift card size.

I was inspired to make this from the gorgeous Secret Santa gift I received from my Stampin’ Up! buddy, Rachel Jackson.  You can see her gorgeous gift for me here.  I loved the black and red spots together.  And, as this is for a boy, I had to use the super new stamp set, available in the Summer Mini, Grunge Rock.

I used part of the sentiment from the Level 3 Hostess stamp set, Occasional Quotes, and I popped a more masculine background pattern in by using my Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I stuck to the colours Basic Black, Real Red and Very Vanilla, and I added some depth to the gift card holder by sponging Basic Black around the edges, including the Real Red guitar.  I popped a Vintage brad in the corner near the Merry Christmas and snipped a flag end with my paper snips.

I finished off by using my new Gold Glow Smooch Spritz over everything – I love this new effect!

And Corey’s Christmas gift is already in the post – hopefully it will arrive safely in Melbourne tomorrow 🙂
