Something old …

Don’t you just love a wedding?  And when it’s your wedding, it’s one of the most memorable and special days of your life.  To help add to how special my friend’s sister’s wedding day will be, my friend also asked me to make tags for “Something old, Something new, Something borrowed, Something blue” … as long as I had the time (too kind! what a fun challenge!).  LOL!!!  I couldn’t help but say … yes please, I’d love to have a go!  What a great reason to make something special for someone on their special day!!  And what an awesome idea!!

This is the tag I’ve made for “Something old” … I really tried for an old-worldy look.  To do this I used the technique … emerging colour!  The stamp sets I’ve used for the emerging colour are En Francais, Priceless and Simply Said.  You’ll see the word “Something” from Yummy (Sale-a-bration stamp set – now unavailable) appear on every tag which I hope will unite them all too.  For emerging colour I stamped En Francis in So Saffron, the butterfly from Priceless in the new In Color Kiwi Kiss and then the heart from Simply Said in versamark.  Then I embossed the heart with clear embossing powder.  After that, I pulled out my brayer and brayered over it all in Red Riding Hood Red.   After I finished brayering, I wiped the cardstock with a tissue.

I’ve distressed the edges of the emerging colour cardstock and the So Saffron cardstock.  And I’ve layered them onto Kiwi Kiss.  I’m sorry to say, the ribbon is either retired SU ribbon or not SU at all.

Check back tomorrow for “Something new” …

Daddy’s birthday

It was my husband’s birthday on St Patrick’s Day … remember the card I made for him, here?  Anyway, these are the cards Isabella and Joshua made for him … they picked the colours, the DSP, the type of ribbon, the stamps … and then they punched and stamped and glued … and Bella coloured in … they loved it!  We had such  a wonderful afternoon together 🙂  I was very proud of them.

Not only do I get to have fun with my kids making cards … but as a demonstrator, I also get to see the new catalogue early and all demonstrators also got a sneak-peek and pre-order opportunity this year!  So, do you see any new colours on these cards??  Because, each card has a sneak peek … for you … of two new In Colors … and a new stamp set too … called Cheers to You.

I must say … I will really, really, really miss In the Stars when it finishes with the new Summer Mini on 31 March … it has been a fabulous stamp set for me!

A new baby girl!

Recently, my old boss and his wife had their first baby girl … and this is the card I made for them:

I used the colours Pretty in Pink, Pale Plum and Whisper White, plus I used versamark with Heat & Stick and Dazzling Diamonds. I really love the jumbo wheel, Nursery Letters, for baby cards … it looks fabulous embossed and all glitzed up in bling! And I love the butterflies from Live Your Dream (available in the Summer Mini which finishes at the end of this month) … I stamped the butterflies in Pale Plum and cut them out, sticking them on with dimensionals. Then I used Short & Sweet to finish off the sentiment and wrapped the card with white taffeta ribbon.

This is a close up … you can see I added a little Dazzling Diamonds to the tips of the butterfly wings too …

Bon Voyage Fundraiser Fun!

On Friday night, a few members of the Creative Stampers team got together and held a fantastic fundraiser for the NSW Cancer Council. Wow! It was an exciting night … I heard lots of comments like “I’ve never sat down and made 10 cards in one night!” and “Isn’t it nice to sit down and make a card that’s pre-cut” … and everyone there had a smile!!

The biggest smiles came from our lucky door prize winners and raffle prize winners. And you can see why! Below is the main raffle prize … and (above) you can see the other raffle prizes …

Below were the lucky door prizes … and you can see the main lucky door prize in front of the basket (it had a Simply Sent kit in it and other goodies). I was stoked that one of my customers (and friends! Hi Jenne!) won the main lucky door prize!!

Below are a couple of photos with everyone hard at work. They had 10 cards to make and everyone had finished by 10pm … what an accomplishment! Well done to everyone who participated!

I must say, it was special to work with the great ladies who make up the Creative Stampers … Jo Wassens being our fearless leader!! The night went off without a hiccup … a testament also to Merryl Blacker’s excellent organising!

And here are some of the cards everyone made, using retiring stamp sets (all unavailable after 31 March 2009 or earlier if sold out) and, often, the cards also used retiring In Colors as well:

The above card used the retiring stamp set, Simple Somethings, and the retiring In Color Purely Pomegranate including the Purely Pomegranate Double-stitched ribbon.

The flower card used the retiring stamp set, Snowflake Spot, as well as the retiring In Colors … Purely Pomegranate and River Rock.

The above card used the retiring stamp set, Carte Postale, including the Leaves a la carte jumbo wheel … and the retiring In Color, Groovy Guava, Moss Gingham ribbon and Metallic eyelets.

The above card uses the retiring stamp sets All Through the Year and It’s Your Birthday … and the retiring In Color Wild Wasabi.

The above card used the retiring stamp set, Petal Prints, and the retiring In Colors, Blue Bayou and Soft Sky.

This cute little card (above and below) used the retiring stamp sets Big Pieces and Little Pieces.

A big thank you to everyone who participated on the night … we raised over $1,100 for the NSW Cancer Council. This week it has been fifteen years since I lost my best-ever Nan at the much-too-early age of 65 … to lung cancer (yes, a smoker). So this was a night very close to my heart! Thank you!!

A big three years old!

As promised, this is the birthday card I’ve made for my Godson … who is a big 3 years old next week! Wow! That time has flown … particularly so, because my older son turns 3 on Monday too (the boys are 2 days apart)! I have to make Joshua’s card yet … I don’t have to put his card in the post for Brisbane, so there’s still time!!

For this birthday card I’ve used the stamp sets Big Bold Birthday and Best Friends Numbers.  Thankfully, Big Bold Birthday is not retiring! Yeah! Though, I’m very sad to say that Best Friends Numbers is.  I use it all the time on birthday cards!! I will miss it.  And, of the colours I’ve used in this card, Soft Sky (including the coordinating Soft Sky grosgrain ribbon) will be retiring. It’s such a lovely colour … although I’m excited about seeing the new colours! The other colours I’ve used with Soft Sky are Night of Navy and Tempting Turquoise.
