Joshua’s 7th Birthday party

And fast on the heels of Harry’s birthday post, my middle son, Joshua, celebrated his 7th birthday party last month (I’m getting better with the fast posting, lol!).  Again, no matter how much we suggested a party at Lollipops would be great, Josh wanted his party at home and he wanted a Justice League party.  But it couldn’t be a “Super Hero” party because at least Justice League had a girl and he wanted the girls to feel happy coming as well.  In the end, we went for a Justice League/Princess party!

So these were the invitations I made.  I used Stampin’ Up!’s World Spectacular DSP and World’s Greatest stamp, to help me with the theme – so Josh’s party really ended up being a “World’s Greatest Superhero/Princess” theme, lol!  Here are the superheroes:

And here are the princesses:

I used Versamark ink with the stamp set, Up Up and Away, with clear embossing powder to create a cool background. Here are some closeups:Image

Here are the punch-art thin cello bags I made as party treats to take home.  Of course, Batman and Spiderman for the boys and Princess Ariel for the girls:

I made a special banner for the birthday boy (I will try and do some closeup photos of this to put up too):

This was the party table:

And on the party table, we had superhero sticks (inspired from Pinterest) using googlie eyes and SU paper for capes:

Then we had Green Goblin Formula (aka green cordial):

Next was some yummy Ariel Strawberries and Spiderman Strawberries:

There were Rainbow jelly cups:

and, of course, Captain America Star Fruit:

The incredible cupcakes and birthday cake were made by one of the school mums, Rose, who you can check out at Cakes by Rose here – http://cakesbyrose.wordpress.com/.

And finally I made the Lolly Bags to take home, again using World Spectacular DSP and also the Stampin’ Up! Petal Cone Die and Big Shot, which I hung from my Stampin’ Up! card tree:

Baroque tri shutter invitation

This is a card I mocked up for a friend for a kitchen tea invitation early last month.  Seeing as tri shutter cards are all “in” at the moment, it was a pleasure to make it!  And, I was able to use some Spring Mini DSP paper – Parisian Breeze.  The DSP is simply gorgeous, you must try it!

Now, this tri shutter differs slightly from the tutorial on The Craftiblog here.  It’s a gorgeous card on The Craftiblog, by the way 🙂  Check it out!

I had to alter the measurements for my card, as I wanted it to be made from an A4 piece of paper, instead of 12×12.  The reason?  Simply, the card was designed for an invitation and it would be more cost effective if made on A4 paper.

I’ve used a base paper of Sahara Sand.  Then I have stamped the big swirl from Baroque Motifs on Vellum paper in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  I also used the same stamp in Chocolate Chip ink on the Parisian Breeze DSP – which I then used my square punches to punch out for the small square panels.

The panels, except for front panel, have all been layered with Chocolate Chip paper.

I stamped the “you’re invited” from Sincere Salutations on Whisper White paper and then punched it out with the large oval punch, layering it with Chocolate Chip paper with the NEW scalloped oval punch (available also in the Spring Mini).  The ribbon is the coordinating Kraft taffeta ribbon – love it, such a versatile ribbon!

The close up below barely (sorry!) shows that I have stamped the champagne glasses from Cheers to You in Sahara Sand on the Sahara Sand paper, under the Vellum paper.

I have a tutorial in my monthly newsletter this month on how to make this particular tri shutter card on A4 paper, so if you’d like to make your own tri shutter, join up now (click on box at top of right hand margin)!  AND, if you do make your own, why not post a link to it in my comments?  I’d totally love to see your creations 🙂  If you don’t have your own blog, then you can always post your picture in Splitcoaststampers here (clink on the Upload a Card link), and then paste your card’s link in my comments.

Spring Mini Launch Party – Monday 25 August 2008

The new Stampin’ Up! Spring Mini catalogue began on 1 August 2008.  Yeah!  To celebrate, I have been busy making lots of invitations like these two (shown below) for my customers, inviting everyone to my Spring Mini Catalogue Launch Party on Monday 25 August 2008 from 7.30pm onwards at my home in Parklea (Sydney, Australia).  I hope you’ve all received them in the post by now 🙂

This is a close up of the first group of invites I made using the new stamp set from the Spring Mini called One of a Kind and the complementing Boho Blossoms punch.  If you come along to my Launch Party you can make a card using this stamp set and the Boho Blossoms punch … it will be fun!

This is a close up of the second group I made using the stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalogue called Looks Like Spring and the complementing Spring Flower Bouquet punch.

I also used the stamp sets Priceless (down the side) and Everyday Flexible Phrases.  Even if you have not received a hand made invitation, you are still welcome and formally invited to come to my Launch Party.  Bookings are essential, so if you haven’t booked already, email me now!

Invitation to New Catalogue Launch Party

What do you think of my invitation I made for my New Catalogue Launch party?  Do you like the butterfly or the flowers best?  I love it all!  That’s because I love the stamp set ‘Time Well Spent’ used to make it.  It is a Level 3 Hostess set in the new Catalogue, but it was our Christmas present from Shelli at Stampin’ Up! for all demonstrators last year.   So generous of Shelli!

This is a close-up of the butterfly coloured in with Tempting Turquoise and Dazzling Diamonds.

My invitations are in snail mail today.  Please do consider this your invitation to come along as well.   You need to book in Monday 14th April 2008, 7.30pm onwards in your diaries at 7 Parklea Drive, Parklea, NSW, Australia.

It will be a night of fun with door prizes, make and take projects, specials, champagne and nibbles. Bring a friend along and have a fun night out experiencing something different!

See you then!
