Life Definitions scrapbook layout

This is the third layout for my step-Nan’s 90th album.

I loved putting this layout together because each page has a theme based on the photo.  The spotty page is all spotty theme because all the ladies in the photo have spotty dresses on.  And the second theme is obvious, because there is snow in the photo!

For the spotty theme, I used Parisian Breeze DSP for the base page, as well as for the thick Baja Breeze strip.  I’ve stamped the heart from Priceless and cut it out and stuck it above “DJs”.  The “DJs” was stamped from Defining Alphabet and cut out and layered over squares punched from Stampin’ Up!’s square punches.  The ladies in the photo love to shop at David Jones … hence, the “DJs”.

There is a strip of Baja Breeze 1″ wide grosgrain across the page and the stamped “R” is from Defining Alphabet, which has the definition for “Remember” next to it, stamped from Life Definitions (also known as Define Your Life).

The base for this layout is from Ski Slope DSP.  The “SNOW” has been stamped from Lovely Letters Alphabet and then cut out and layered over punched out squares from Stampin’ Up!’s square punches.  Again, the stamped “F” is from Defining Alphabet, which has the definition for “Favourite” next to it, stamped from Life Definitions.

And these are the layouts with photos on them …

It’s hard to see the spotty dresses with my night-time photography 😦

More Sticky Cut Letters …

This is one of the cards we made at my recent Sticky Cut Letters class …

It was a great card because you could use the same cardstock in different layouts.  The stamp sets used are One of a Kind and Life Definitions and the DSP is Bella Rose.  Did you know that the small circles in Sticky Cut Letters fit a Build-a-Brad perfectly?  I’ve built a chunky brad using my Sticky Cut Letters, Build-a-Brad and Chunky glitter.

The colour combo is Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss.

This is a close up of the flower embellishment:

So, what is your opinion?  Green glitter or pink glitter for this card?

Bali Breeze Special Friend

This is a card I made last week for a very special lady I work with. My friend is always offering to help others with their work and she is a kind, smiling, tireless, hard-worker and all round great person. We couldn’t do without her! Anyway, the week before she had done something extra out-of-the-way for me and I simply had to acknowledge her kindness with a card. And this is it!

The colours I used were inspired from a colour challenge run by Alana Gallagher from The Inklings cyberstamp. They are Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Rose Red. The new Bali Breeze DSP fitted perfectly into the colour challenge!

This is a close-up of the Styled Silver hodgepodge and rhinestone brads I used … the Styled Silver just lifts a card from wow! to WOW! Don’t you think?

The stamp sets I’ve used are Life Definitions, Everyday Flexible Phrases and tucked away as stamped backgrounds on the Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise papers you’ll see a tiny bit of Eastern Blooms from the Summer Mini too!

Never Ending Christmas card

One of the reasons I joined Stampin’ Up! was to be a part of a team filled with great ideas. To me, this card is the epitome of sharing great ideas. Last week, one of my team leaders, Jayne Mercer, ran monthly training for her group. This was one of the cards she shared with everyone there. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make that training. Yet, one of my team members, Michele, was able to go and she dropped by my house on the way home and showed me her card. Well, this card took me back to being a little girl! How cool it is to keep folding it over and over again!

And so, again, the beauty of being in Jayne’s team was that I could log on to her special team Forum and within a day Jayne had shared a video tutorial with all her team members on how to make this card. I am one lucky person to be a member of such a team! Thank you, Jayne, for sharing your talent! You can see Jayne’s talent here.

I must apologise for the poor photography … my camera is on it’s way out!

This was the front of my never-ending card …

The next side …

The next side …

And the last side …

I’ve used my favourite Christmas stamp sets, Season of Joy and the Snowflake Spot to decorate the card. I’ve also used the definition “wish” from Life Definitions. It’s a great stamp, that one! The colours I’ve used are Old Olive, Real Read, Night of Navy, Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky. The Dazzling Diamonds I’ve used and the paper piercing isn’t too obvious in the photographs. Sorry!

My Sydney Regional swap

Phew!  I’ve had a great day, despite the poor weather, at the Stampin’ Up! Sydney Regional training in Darling Harbour today.  One of the many fun things we do at training are “swaps”.  This means we make a stack of cards and we “swap” them with each other.  When you look at someone else’s swap you suddenly find out new ways to use stamps or a particular stamp set you had never thought of before.  It’s great fun!

This was my swap …

On the back of each swap we put our “recipe” for creating the swap card.  My recipe looked like this:
