Josh’s Extreme Elements 6th birthday

Well, my special middle boy, Josh, turned 6 back in March.  It was a bit of a crazy time in March as we had been given notice to vacate our home (the owner wanted to move in) so we were running around looking for somewhere to live in between packing, school, work, my business and all the usual fun of life!  Josh had a big party last year for his 5th birthday, so this year was a quiet affair at home.  This was the card I made for him – I really love how it turned out!

I used the stamp sets Extreme Elements and Happiest Birthday Wishes with the colour combination Real Red, Basic Black and Crumb Cake.  I love the Big Shot and I couldn’t have made this card without it – I’ve used the Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die and Simple Letters Alphabet and Simple Numbers Bigz Dies to cut out Josh’s name and the number “6” (which doubles as the number “9”).

I think that SU’s glitter paper is the best paper out there – I hope we get more colours in the new catalogue!!

Masculine Sense of Time

I made this card for my hopefully one-day-in-the-future brother-in-law.  He’s a builder, so something with mechanical workings seemed a good choice – so I chose Sense of Time.  The more I use this stamp set the more I love it!

I think the colours Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla make a great masculine card – what do you think?  I haven’t added any accessories to the card but I have sponged all the edges in Crumb Cake.

The sentiment is from Party This Way, which I stamped in Early Espresso on some Very Vanilla and then punched out with the Large Oval punch.  I then layered the sentiment with cardstock punched using my Designer Label punch and my 1 3/8″ Large Circle punch.

Victorian Bush Fire Appeal

It has been a heart wrenching week for many Victorians over the last week, with bush fires that really seem more like fire storms, destroying homes and far more profoundly, taking the lives of too many special people.

To help support the people left after such devastation, Stampin’ Up! have offered to make a donation to the Bush Fire Appeal,  like so many other businesses across Australia (I even made sure I did my shopping at Coles today and bought my bread from Bakers Delight – all offering donations for our purchases).

So, from today through to 31 March 2009, when you purchase any of a select group of 10 stamp sets, Stampin’ Up! will donate 50 percent of the sales of these sets to the Australia Red Cross Victorian Bushfires 2009 Appeal.  Remember, that if you include one of these stamp sets in a $100 purchase before the end of February, you will also receive a Sale-a-bration stamp set of your choice.   Stampin’ Up! will let demonstrators know how much money has been donated sometime after 31 March … so when they tell me, I will share with you how much Stampin’ Up! has contributed to the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal.

Today also happens to be my brother-in-law’s birthday, so on a brighter note, this is the card I made for his birthday.  He’s a bloke’s bloke … so it had to be as masculine as possible!  So, you can see, only one stamp used (and, I know, it’s crooked … that will teach me to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig!)!  Otherwise, I used the Outlaw DSP, my star punches and the wide grosgrain ribbon with a bit of linen thread.

Reminder … stamping night this Friday

Just a reminder … my FREE card & scrap night is on Friday 28 March 2008 from 8.00pm, for any who are interested in coming along.

Remember … this is an “up to you” night. It is a night to work on your own creations. You need to bring along your own cardstock, adhesives, embellishments etc and any of your latest purchases you haven’t yet used.

You are welcome to also use any of my stamp sets, ink pads or punches, if you like. I will supply a seat, some lollies (perhaps some chocolate Easter eggs if you can stomach the sight of them …) and coffee/tea/cold drinks.

Book some time in your diary for YOU now and come along. Bookings essential (simply so I can organise table space for everyone).

If you are short on ideas, then check out these two cards. I made these cards the other night for my two gorgeous Godsons in Brisbane … Corey turned 14 and Zayd turned 2 … brothers that are a day and 12 years apart! Very special men deserve very special cards 🙂
