Sydney Regionals swap

Well, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, ’cause I surely did!  I was in stamper’s heaven … at Stampin’ Up!’s Sydney Regional training.

Now, I won’t confess the dire hour I stayed up until making my 32 swaps.  And if you’re not sure what a swap is, post a comment so you can learn about the fun.  But … these were the swaps I made:

And these were the swaps I received in return:

For my swap, I used the stamp sets Boho Backgrounds and Think Happy Thoughts.  The colours are Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand and Riding Hood Red.  I used LOTS of punches on the card for all the circles.  Plus, I used the masking technique for the flowers down the side.  Naturally, there has to be a little bit of bling SOMEWHERE on my cards, and this card had two rhinestone brads.

Now, these were three of the four gorgeous make-and-take projects we all made:

We made these with the stamp set Hello Again and the wheel Retro Remix, both new and upcoming in the Summer Mini Catalogue (beginning 1 December – yeah!).  As part of the cost of the day, each attendee received a brand new Hello Again and Retro Remix … and a new handle and a new Old Olive ink cartridge for our handle.  I was pretty stoked!  Stampin’ Up! is so generous, honest!  And did you see the beautiful ribbons we used on our projects?  They are stunning IRL!

My brother’s birthday and LAST DAY RIBBON BUNDLE

Well, this month has been FULL!!  Have you found that too?  What is it about Spring and September? LOL!

Anyway, at the beginning of the month it was my brother’s birthday.  We had a fun night out with him and his wife’s family, although our kids were a bit overexcited by the end of the evening!!  This is the card I made for him.

You know, I think this is the first time I’ve ever used Brilliant Blue cardstock!  But WOW, this colour combo really impressed me – Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa and Brilliant Blue.  The inspiration for the card came from Live Laugh and Stamp with Karen here … what a gorgeous card!  Thanks, Karen 🙂

All of the Very Vanilla cardstock you see is textured cardstock, which I’m addicted to!  I’ve used the stamp set, Think Happy Thoughts, such a versatile set!  And then I’ve paper pierced the middle strip with my mat pack.  The big star brad is from the Star Designer Brads, which are a quality bargain at only $11.25!!

And it’s the LAST DAY of September, already!  Which means it is the LAST DAY for Stampin’ Up!’s Gift with Purchase Promotion EXCEPT customers have outperformed even Stampin’ Up!’s most optimistic estimates, and Stampin’ Up! have RUN OUT of inventory of this special item.

Guest cards …

One of the best things about Stampin’ Up!, for me, is that I keep in touch with the BEST people.  Today, I’m lucky to share with you some cards my friend Jenne had made and emailed to show me last week.  Jenne and I used to work together (before I took a sabbatical from law to be a mum for a while).  Jenne still works with a great bunch of people that I miss working with!  These are the cards Jenne made:

Don’t you love them?  Here is a close up of the birthday cards – for twins 🙂

For the twins’ birthday cards,  Jenne has used the stamp sets Garden Whimsy and Think Happy Thoughts for the girl’s card and Sincere Salutations with the Large Star punch for the boy’s card.  And the ribbon is also Stampin’ Up! grosgrain.  The ribbons look great, don’t they?

This card is for a housewarming.

For this card, Jenne used the Trendy Trees stamp set.  Jenne said her friend’s new house had lots of trees, so Trendy Trees suited the occasion just right!

Although the patterned paper is not Stampin’ Up!, I think Jenne has matched it awesome with the stamp sets she has used.

Thanks for sharing with us, Jenne!

Classic Stars

Do you have the Classic Stars jumbo wheel yet?  If you don’t, you should!  Well, I will qualify … particularly if you have kids!  I think it makes great boy and girl birthday cards.  Together with the coordinating star punches, it’s a must have at only $AUS15.95.

This is a card I made to demonstrate heat embossing, using silver embossing powder.  The SU silver embossing powder is gorgeous! You must try it.  Really.  You must.  Together with the silver, I’ve made this card using the colours Lovely Lilac, Rose Red and Whisper White.  The wide grosgrain ribbon is in coordinating Rose Red.  And the lovely patterned paper under the ribbon?  Well, that’s from the Sweet Nothings Simply Scrappin’ kit.

The sentiment is from the stamp set Think Happy Thoughts.  The little star stamped in Lovely Lilac ink is from Seasons of Joy – what a versatile stamp set!  There is a neat little trick to the punched out “outlined” star.  Why not sign up to receive my monthly newsletter today?  Then you’ll learn the tip in my June newsletter.

Kristina Werner Colour Challenge #46

031909-colors

It has been a while since I’ve had the time for a Kristina Werner Colour Challenge … and I didn’t have time today either, but I had to make time because I simply adore these colours … and the image!!

So, this is my attempt … using Eastern Blooms and Think Happy Thoughts.  I forever struggle to find the right place for good light to take my photos at home, so I have two photos!  The first, taken in morning light …

the second taken at twilight …

Here is a close up of the flower branch … I embossed the branches with black embossing powder, so it shines … in morning light …

Baroque Hostess Gifts

I’m quite surprised that I have organised myself a little bit at the moment. I have made a few of these gorgeous little note books as hostess gifts. When I first saw the original idea for covering this notebook by my wonderful friend, Michele (who is one of my fellow SU demonstrators) I thought … what a lovely gift!

The notepad covers are such a clever idea and they are stuck down with half a velcro dot as well! You can check out Michele’s creations here.

For the notepad below, I’ve used the colours Rose Red and Certainly Celery. The stamp sets are the stunning Baroque Motifs and the ever useful Think Happy Thoughts and I’ve popped it into a Stampin’ Up! cellophane bag ! Did you know you could purchase cellophane bags from Stampin’ Up!?

The next notepad was made using the colours Old Olive and Regal Rose – with the same stamp sets!

And this is a collective photo of the three colours I’ve made. The last colours being Ballet Blue and Groovy Guava.

If you would like to book a workshop party with me then this is one of the FREE hostess gifts you will receive from me.

But, if a workshop party is not quite what you’re after as you find you are time poor to make your own cards, then perhaps an evening with friends for a Stamp-a-Stack is more your scene? I provide everything (precut!!) and you and your guests make 10 cards (2 different designs) to take home. Book a SAS with me and you will also receive one of these hostess gifts FREE.

Make & Take

This is the card we made at a workshop on Friday night.  There were lots of punches to use for everyone, and everyone did their own take on it … they looked great!  I should have taken photos (I’ll try and remember to do that next time).  This is the card that inspired me at Stamping Moments.  Jenny makes incredible cards in the UK.  I had to simplify the card for a workshop though, or we would have been making until after midnight as there were lots of people there!
