Floral Frames Birthday card

I really love this card.  I made it for a class last year, and I was pleasantly surprised how it turned out.

I used the colours Perfect Plum and Crumb Cake, which go so well together.  The flower is made with Perfect Plum cardstock and First Edition Specialty DSP and the Floral Frames Framelits.  There is a Vintage Faceted Designer button in the middle of the flower, around a sentiment stamped from the stamp set, A Fitting Occasion.  In the background and on the envelope, I stamped Perfect Plum with the Daydream Medallions stamp set together with some Perfect Plum Colour Collection Designer Series Paper stack and Cotton Ribbon.

More Butterflies

I had a class a while ago where one of the cards we made was with the Swallowtail stamp.  I heat embossed it with Pewter embossing powder, and I must admit, I hope Stampin’ Up! don’t ever retire Pewter embossing powder – it’s a gorgeous colour! And I love how it looks embossed over First Edition Specialty paper.

I then coloured in the butterfly using blender pens and ink pads.  Lastly, a Pretty Petites stamp punched out with the new Petite Curly Label punch from Sale-a-bration gave me a sentiment for the card. This is the card I made for the class:

And then while I was packing up after the class, I had had so much fun making the Swallowtail card during the class, and watching what all my lovely ladies made with it, that I had another play with it and made all these cards too:

The card above was made simply sponging Island Indigo ink over the embossed image of the butterfly – love this effect!

The cards above were made using a combination of blender pen colouring and using my marker pens to colour.

Lastly, I made a card with white embossing powder and used my marker pen to colour it in.  Honestly, I shouldn’t have coloured this card in.  It’s not good enough by my standards and would have looked better had I just left it embossed, not coloured, clean and simple.  The white heat-embossed sentiment was from the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Feeling Sentimental.

Serene Silhouettes

Image

This is a card I made last year for a card night with some of the lovely ladies who come and stamp with me.  At the time, I looked everywhere for inspiration with this stamp set, Serene Silhouettes, but in the end I was inspired by one of my own cards!  Honestly, that doesn’t happen often. But this is the card that inspired me here.

I really like this colour combo of Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.

Here is a close up of the same card with the sentiment “just for you” instead:

Joshua’s 7th Birthday party

And fast on the heels of Harry’s birthday post, my middle son, Joshua, celebrated his 7th birthday party last month (I’m getting better with the fast posting, lol!).  Again, no matter how much we suggested a party at Lollipops would be great, Josh wanted his party at home and he wanted a Justice League party.  But it couldn’t be a “Super Hero” party because at least Justice League had a girl and he wanted the girls to feel happy coming as well.  In the end, we went for a Justice League/Princess party!

So these were the invitations I made.  I used Stampin’ Up!’s World Spectacular DSP and World’s Greatest stamp, to help me with the theme – so Josh’s party really ended up being a “World’s Greatest Superhero/Princess” theme, lol!  Here are the superheroes:

And here are the princesses:

I used Versamark ink with the stamp set, Up Up and Away, with clear embossing powder to create a cool background. Here are some closeups:Image

Here are the punch-art thin cello bags I made as party treats to take home.  Of course, Batman and Spiderman for the boys and Princess Ariel for the girls:

I made a special banner for the birthday boy (I will try and do some closeup photos of this to put up too):

This was the party table:

And on the party table, we had superhero sticks (inspired from Pinterest) using googlie eyes and SU paper for capes:

Then we had Green Goblin Formula (aka green cordial):

Next was some yummy Ariel Strawberries and Spiderman Strawberries:

There were Rainbow jelly cups:

and, of course, Captain America Star Fruit:

The incredible cupcakes and birthday cake were made by one of the school mums, Rose, who you can check out at Cakes by Rose here – http://cakesbyrose.wordpress.com/.

And finally I made the Lolly Bags to take home, again using World Spectacular DSP and also the Stampin’ Up! Petal Cone Die and Big Shot, which I hung from my Stampin’ Up! card tree:

Harrison’s 5th Birthday party

Well, last year my youngest turned 5 (yes, I know, I’m a little slow at getting photos up on my blog!).  Anyway, despite all our encouragement for a party at a venue instead of at home, Harry wanted his party at home.  And he wanted a Spiderman party.

So here are some photos from his party.  First, here is a photo of the birthday boy with his cupcakes for school and the invitations I made for his friends:

Black Swallowtail Sympathy card

Black Swallowtail Sympathy card

This is the Swallowtail stamp, inked and Versamark and heat-embossed with black powder.

I love the colours Black and Crumb Cake together! And Versamark ink is so useful. Along with the embossing powder, I’ve also stamped Serene Silhouettes for a background effect in Versamark ink. There is a Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp, “with sympathy”, stamped in the corner of the card with black ink.

This took 10 minutes to create!

Swallowtail Butterfly

Swallowtail Butterfly

This is a gorgeous stamp, Swallowtail, available in Stampin’ Up!’s Seasonal Catalogue. I have stamped the butterfly in Versamark ink, then stamped into onto the Tea for Two DSP. I then embossed it with Pewter embossing powder (love that powder) and sponged some Island Indigo ink on the butterfly for colour.

You can make so many different cards with this stamp, and quickly too. I’ll post more of this beautiful butterfly from an afternoon of stamping soon.
