More Butterflies

I had a class a while ago where one of the cards we made was with the Swallowtail stamp.  I heat embossed it with Pewter embossing powder, and I must admit, I hope Stampin’ Up! don’t ever retire Pewter embossing powder – it’s a gorgeous colour! And I love how it looks embossed over First Edition Specialty paper.

I then coloured in the butterfly using blender pens and ink pads.  Lastly, a Pretty Petites stamp punched out with the new Petite Curly Label punch from Sale-a-bration gave me a sentiment for the card. This is the card I made for the class:

And then while I was packing up after the class, I had had so much fun making the Swallowtail card during the class, and watching what all my lovely ladies made with it, that I had another play with it and made all these cards too:

The card above was made simply sponging Island Indigo ink over the embossed image of the butterfly – love this effect!

The cards above were made using a combination of blender pen colouring and using my marker pens to colour.

Lastly, I made a card with white embossing powder and used my marker pen to colour it in.  Honestly, I shouldn’t have coloured this card in.  It’s not good enough by my standards and would have looked better had I just left it embossed, not coloured, clean and simple.  The white heat-embossed sentiment was from the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Feeling Sentimental.

Black Swallowtail Sympathy card

Black Swallowtail Sympathy card

This is the Swallowtail stamp, inked and Versamark and heat-embossed with black powder.

I love the colours Black and Crumb Cake together! And Versamark ink is so useful. Along with the embossing powder, I’ve also stamped Serene Silhouettes for a background effect in Versamark ink. There is a Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp, “with sympathy”, stamped in the corner of the card with black ink.

This took 10 minutes to create!

Swallowtail Butterfly

Swallowtail Butterfly

This is a gorgeous stamp, Swallowtail, available in Stampin’ Up!’s Seasonal Catalogue. I have stamped the butterfly in Versamark ink, then stamped into onto the Tea for Two DSP. I then embossed it with Pewter embossing powder (love that powder) and sponged some Island Indigo ink on the butterfly for colour.

You can make so many different cards with this stamp, and quickly too. I’ll post more of this beautiful butterfly from an afternoon of stamping soon.
